Parent Coaching

Things were going so well! and then your child moved into a new stage of development and presented you with fresh challenges. You need some new insights and ideas. Let me help.

Parent Coaching for Parents of Infants & Toddlers

I focus on coaching the parents of newborns, infants and toddlers. Every child and family is unique. Together, we will understand what you and your child are experiencing and tailor a family-specific solution using the RIE®, Pikler, and/or Steiner-Waldorf.

The process

Consultations start with parent description of the issue and/or child observation in your home, followed by parent discussion. Parents receive a written summary report and action plan.

I also offer phone consultations for families who are not local to the East Bay. It’s amazing what can be accomplished in a single phone call.

“Speaking to Jennifer for an hour on the phone about RIE gave me a great wealth of insights and practical specifics that I hadn’t been able to glean from the written page.  Jennifer is so drenched in the philosophy and the art of its application that she brought RIE alive for me – for example,  just one of many gems: the principle of ‘wait’, Jennifer suggested that I don’t try to clip all 10 of Leo’s toes at once – of course!  It is invaluable having Jennifer as a mentor, because its easy to get the nuance of RIE slightly off which can be frustrating, and just a few thoughts can make it flow again.”

What parents teach is themselves, as models of what is human — by their moods, their reactions, their facial expressions, their actions.  These are the real things that parents need to be aware of, and of how they affect their children. Allow them to know you and it might become easier for them to know themselves. — Magda Gerber
